2 Configuring MUI
2.3 Modules [mcc's]
MUI allows plugins or modules to be written by third party programmers and then installed within your mui:libs/mui folder. These modules become active within the MUI prefereces, and allow you to configure each module independantly.
For instance, the textinput module allows you to change the font, colours, indentation and style of the editor used within Microdot-II (and many other programs included within NetConnect).
If these modules were not present, most of the programs within NetConnect simply would fail to start (as these modules are needed to construct the program interface in many cases).
The following are some of the main modules that are shipped within the NetConnect package (and as part of MUI).
2.31 Busy
The busy bar preferences allow you to configure the style of the bar you see when MUI programs are 'busy'. For instance, when you are trying to find a web site within Voyager, you will see the busy bar displayed in the bottom right corner of the Voyager screen.
There are various options available. You can see in the image that this bar was configured to use the 'knightrider' bar preset, speed slowed to 22ms, 32 segments selected and black/red used for the colours
2.32 Listtree
Again used by many NetConnect programs from Voyager to Contact Manager and from Microdot-II to X-Arc. The listtree allows Windows98 style tree options. The best uses of the listtree is probably found within the Contact Manager or the internal Voyager/Microdot-II bookmarks where you can set groups, sub-groups and entries within these groups.
The example image is configured so that it uses very small arrows, the actual tree is deep blue and based on the 'lines3D' preset. Remember status is ticked, this means that when you close a window containing a listtree, the status of the tree is saved for the next time you open that window.
2.33 NListviews
A custom module used heavily within all the NetConnect programs. This module is used to configure the headers/columns shown within programs such as X-Arc (the main window of X-Arc uses NList for the columns).
You can configure the colour of the headers, the font, the font when highlighted, the background of the columns. You can specify more advanced options such as the font used within the columns and the style of the scroll bars etc.
The example images shows a multi-coloured based NList setup. The background, for example, is white, whilst the colours used for highlighting entries within a NList are green, red and yellow.
2.34 Term
The term module is used within terminals. Term is used within the Genesis dial window, AmTelnet and AmTerm. Essentially you can configure the font and terminal colours.
2.35 TextInput
Textinput is used within many of the NetConnect programs. For example, it provides the editor for the 'write new message' window within Microdot-II.
The example shows font chosen to be used within the editor, the size of the flashing editing block and the colours chosen for the edit window. You can also configure key combinations and the external editor.
